Pizzo is a city of about 9,000 inhabitants, located in the middle of the Gulf of St. Eufemia in a lovely position between the seas, mountains and fragrant orange groves, olive groves and vineyards. From its squares, real terraces overlooking the sea, you can admire idyllic and picturesque views.
Pizzo is suspended between history and legend and is rich in cultural traditions. Formerly called Napitia, name given by Napeto, head of the tribe of Focesi who escaped the Trojan War after a long pilgrimage for meditemmeo, who settled definitively in our shores attracted by this pleasant site.
Pizzo today is a modern city, a place renowned for its resort beaches, the charming creeks full of rocks, for its clear waters, the picturesque old town with its majestic castle.

Few minutes away from the old town of Pizzo, the church of Piedigrotta confirm the unique charm and the highness of popular culture. Sitting on the beach, "Madonneja" (so affectionately called by pizzitani) has welcomed in decades a multitude of visitors throughout the years. The church is located only 1500 metres from the village and is among the most visited in Calabria, thanks to the word of mouth of enchanted tourists. The rumours of the sea, the soft smell of the rocks and the sand accompany the visitor up until the entrance of the Church, then in the silence appears the golden lights of Piedigrotta.
